Mud, Mayhem, and Grit at NYOA Round 2 – Berkshire Hills Round Up
Round 2 of the New York Off-Road Association (NYOA) series brought riders to Berkshire, NY for the Berkshire Hills Round Up, and it was one for the books — though maybe not the cleanest chapter.
A relentless mix of rain and mud turned the course into a true off-road survival test. Alternate routes had to be found, made, or forced through the soaked fields and thick woods just to keep the racing moving. With 854 riders registered across the day’s six races, expectations were high—but conditions had other plans.
Only 591 riders managed to complete even one lap, a testament to how brutal the terrain became. Deep ruts, slop-filled hillsides, and zero visibility in mud sections made progress a challenge for even the most seasoned racers.
The chaos wasn’t limited to the course. The parking lot turned into a bog, with trucks and trailers stuck in the muck and others needing to be pulled out by anything with a tow strap and traction.
Despite the carnage, spirits stayed high and the off-road community showed its true grit. The Berkshire Hills Round Up was less about results and more about resilience—NYOA style.
